Oak bark (Quercus robur cortex) is rich in tanning agents that have an astringent effect, making the intestinal mucosa denser. This leads to less water being released into the gut, helping the intestinal contents to return to its normal, firm form. In addition, English oak bark helps to calm the digestive system by influencing intestinal motility and supporting the inflammatory metabolic process in the intestine.
Blackberry leaves (Rubus fruticosus) Similar to English oak bark, blackberry leaves contain tannins that have an astringent effect on the intestinal mucosa. Blackberry leaves can also support the inflammatory metabolic process.
Dried wild blueberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) have a gentle constipating effect and can help the intestines with inflammatory metabolic processes. Their characteristic dark color and antioxidant properties are because of the anthocyanins they contain.
Inulin belongs to the genus of prebiotics, that are not digestible by the body's own enzymes and are therefore a fermentable substrate for the bacteria of the intestinal flora. Inulin can promote the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria – the pathogenic germs, however, receive no such support. As a result, inulin is said to have a positive effect on the immune system.
Camomile extract (Matricaria chamomilla flores) calms and relaxes the muscles in the gastrointestinal tract.
Carrots (Daucus carota subsp. sativus) are rich in soluble fiber, especially pectin, which binds fluid in the intestines and regulates gut movements. This makes the feces more solid and stabilizes digestion. Carrots also contain valuable electrolytes such as potassium and can support the inflammatory metabolism. The oral intake of EnteroGast acute for rodents and rabbits is helped by including carrots since these pets normally like to eat them.
Oregano (Origanum vulgare) can support the inflammatory metabolism in the intestine.
Fennel seeds (Foeniculum vulgare) can have a spasmolytic effect on the intestines and thus improve digestion. It can also support the inflammatory metabolism processes in the intestine. The oral intake of EnteroGast acute for rodents and rabbits is helped by including fennel since these pets normally like to eat them.
