Inulin (Prebiotic) Inulin belongs to the genus of prebiotics, i.e. oligosaccharides that cannot be digested by the body's own enzymes and thus represent a fermentable substrate for the bacteria of the intestinal flora. Inulin can promote the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria such as Enterococcus faecium - pathogenic germs, however, are not supported. Because of this, inulin is said to have a positive effect on the immune system. If inulin is metabolized by intestinal bacteria such as Enterococcus faecium, organic acids are released. These have a stabilizing effect on the intestinal microbiota. Tests on puppies have also shown that inulin added to food leads to a reduced colonization of salmonella.

Enterococcus faecium (Probiotic bacterial cultures) Enterococcus faecium cultures help to build up the intestinal flora in a natural way. They settle in the intestine and support the regulation of intestinal peristalsis. The cultures also help to ensure that there are fewer pathogenic intestinal bacteria in the intestine. They compete with them for receptors on the intestinal epithelium and change the luminal pH value in such a way that the binding ability of pathogenic intestinal bacteria is influenced. In the case of a weakened intestine in particular, this can displace the harmful microorganisms in favor of the natural intestinal flora.

Lactobacillus acidophilus (Probiotic bacterial cultures) Lactobacillus acidophilus is a facultative anaerobic, gram-positive rod bacterium. It is one of the best-researched probiotics for the health of dogs and cats. The bacterium produces lactic acid, improves stool consistency and supports the maintenance of a healthy intestinal flora. Lactobacillus acidophilus also modulates the local immune defense and promotes a healthy intestinal epithelium.

Bacillus velezensis (Probiotic bacterial cultures) This strain of bacteria can create a pleasant environment for beneficial bacteria in the intestines by consuming oxygen and producing certain enzymes. The Bacillus velezensis spores survive the low pH in the stomach and multiply in the intestines. Supplementing the diet with Bacillus velezensis reduces the ammonia content and pH of the stool, improves the consistency of the stool and supports digestion. Bacillus velezensis also helps to give a shiny, beautiful coat.
